What is Facial Sanding or Dermabrasion?

Dermabrasion may of interest if you have acne scars, wrinkle lines or an uneven skin surface that you find concerning. Facial sanding will make these skin irregularities less noticeable.

What is Involved?

  • The procedure is done either in the office with a local anesthetic or in our Surgical Centre using a general anesthetic.
  • Using an electrical device that removes the top layers of skin, Dermabrasion planes down an irregular skin surface.

What is the Healing Time?

  • The patient goes home with the treated area covered with a protective ointment and/ or a dressing.
  • Discomfort is handled easily with oral medication.
  • The treated area is usually healed within 6-7 days.
  • Most patients return to work within 2 weeks
