Laser Resurfacing
WHAT IS LASER RESURFACING?
If you have damaged skin, fine wrinkles, acne scars or hyperpigmentation (age spots) you may be a candidate for Laser Resurfacing. The laser can be used on the entire face or specific areas, leaving a smoother, more youthful looking skin of more uniform colour.
What is Involved?
- The procedure is done as a day surgery in our Surgical Centre. Anesthetics used could be local with sedation or a general anesthetic.
- The superficial layers of the skin are removed by the pulsed laser. The depth of the treatment is extremely controlled and predictable.
What is the Healing Time?
- Discomfort is managed with oral medication.
- The skin is raw and red looking the first few days. Healing will take a full 7 to 10 days.
- Make up may be worn once the healing has taken place. Extreme care must be used in avoiding sun exposure while there is any redness to the skin.
- Most patients are back to work within 2 - 3 weeks.
